is a part Native Hawaiian painter and scientific illustrator born and raised in Waimanalo, Hawaiʻi. She holds a B.S. in Plant Sciences from California Polytechnic State University, where a study of ethnobotany deepened her understanding of plants as a gateway to culture, history, and medicine.

Back home on Oʻahu, Kerner lives and works in the rainforest, drawing on the botanical world that surrounds her. Her work with local marine organizations and National Geographic's Pristine Seas program pushed her practice seaward, expanding her study of Hawaiʻi's ecosystems beyond land. Her scientific illustration work continues alongside an evolving body of fine art. Painting in acrylic and oil under the mentorship of painter Yvonne Cheng, she creates surreal, abstracted botanical scenes
